Perks on the Firearms Talent tree include critical hit bonuses and lower costs for ammo crafting. However, because firearms require a lot of harder-to-find resources, hunting-focused players may want to skip this Talent tree to invest more points into Bows or Blades, which will be helpful starting very early in the mission. These are necessary for fighting bosses and aggressive wildlife like bears. Typically, for hunting-focused characters, investing Talent Points in Bows or Blades will be a better option.Īfter reaching certain leveling milestones, players can use Skill Points to gain the ability to craft firearms like shotguns and hunting rifles. Though spears are a combat option, these items are less versatile than bows or knives.
Like the Bow Talent tree, players can instead opt to put Talent Points into the Blades tree for perks such as a 15 percent increase in melee damage. Knives are also useful for close-range defense when wolves attack, though players who exclusively use knives in combat will likely take damage and sustain wounds. Skinning tougher creatures such as polar bears requires higher-quality knives made of iron or steel.

Prospectors will want to spend Skill Points on knives, as they’re necessary to skin animals for meat, bones, leather and fur. Putting Talent Points into Bows offers excellent perks such as faster movement when carrying bows (up to 10 percent) and reduced bow durability loss (up to 30 percent). Later on, they can use more Skill Points to unlock the ability to craft longbows, bone arrows, crossbows and recurve bows. Players can use Skill Points to earn the ability to craft wood bows and stone arrows very early in the game. It also offers one of the fastest ways to level characters, particularly once players are ready to face aggressive creatures such as wolves and bears.įor most people, successful hunting will require bow and arrow mastery. Hunting is essential to survival in Icarus. Some Talents are helpful to teams, such as one that reduces oxygen intake for a player and everyone in their vicinity. Unfortunately, because each tree is progressive, spreading Talent Points across too many trees means the player may be unable to maximize any one utility. For example, under the Combat tab, players can level Talents for Bows, Spears, Blades, Firearms or a few skills from each tree. Unlike games that allow players to level characters based on classes, Icarus will enable players to choose skills from multiple trees. Talents differ in that they’re character-based boosts.
